Ron brings a rich sound to the group with his Bach Stradivarius trombone, and he provides both a harmonious musical balance and dynamic stage presence to the SoulQuest horn section. In the 70s, he played with the band Thunder and Lightning, then joined fellow SoulQuest mates, Joe Pellerito and Ric Guajardo in the band Midwest Rumor (later called Exodus). In 2008, Ron rejoined his band mates, Joe & Ric, to complete the horn section of the band Soul Driven.
Ron’s style was influenced mainly by the Motown sound, Chicago, Tower of Power, Blood Sweat and Tears, and even Tommy Dorsey, but James Pankow (Chicago) inspired him as a musician and stage performer.

Because of his 30-plus years of playing trumpet and flugelhorn, Ric brings a wide-open and soulful sound. He also plays harmonica, keys and helps out with vocals. An accomplished performer whose technical skill is used as a means to stimulating original ends, Ric arranges and composes music for the SoulQuest horn section. He has recorded and performed with many local artists at a variety of venues and festivals. In the 80’s, he played with Midwest Rumor (later called Exodus) along with SoulQuest horn man, Ron Martin; then in 2008, he joined the horn section of Soul Driven, with SoulQuest mates, Ron Martin & Joe Pellerito. By day, Ric works as a video editor for WJBK-FOX2 News.

Ric performed with The Drifters featuring Charlie Thomas in 2012 for a Christmas performance at Meadowbrook Music Hall. In addition to his musical talents, Ric is a professionally trained Mexican folkloric dancer.

Ric was born in Detroit, MI, and grew up in Taylor, the city he still calls home.

Joe plays the Synthophone, an electronic saxophone, as well as Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bari Saxes, keyboards and guitar and is also the musical director of SoulQuest. His musical experience spans four decades that began at Michigan State University where he played in the MSU Marching Band, Symphony Band and Jazz Band showing his versatility as a musician. Since 1990, he has been part of the MSU Alumni Band. During the 70’s, Joe played with Sounds of Soul. Joe again met up with Ric and Ron in 2004 when they joined Soul Driven.
